Just for Kids Law (JfKL) are recruiting a Communications Officer to join our Development team. This exciting new role will be instrumental in strengthening Just for Kids Law’s public profile, amplifying the voices of children and young people, and supporting the delivery of our communications and fundraising strategy.
You will join our small but influential organisation, which also includes the Children’s Rights Alliance for England (CRAE). Through this role, you will help shape and deliver engaging communications across digital and print platforms, ensuring our work, campaigns and impact reach a wide audience in a meaningful and authentic way.
As the Communications Officer, you will work closely with the Director of Development to lead on external and internal communications, social media activity, website content, newsletters and media engagement. You will support the development of fundraising campaigns and help maintain and strengthen Just for Kids Law’s brand identity across all communications.
You will be highly motivated, creative and organised, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines. You will be expected to work with a high degree of autonomy while collaborating effectively with colleagues, young people and external partners across the organisation.

Responsibilities
Communications
- Responsible for delivering engaging external communications across digital and offline platforms, ensuring consistency in messaging and brand identity.
- Managing and developing content for Just for Kids Law’s websites, newsletters and social media channels to increase engagement and awareness of the organisation’s work.
- Producing high-quality communications materials including newsletters, campaign content, impact reporting and promotional materials.
- Working with frontline staff and young people to identify and develop case studies, stories and digital content that highlight the impact of Just for Kids Law’s work.
- Supporting media relations activity, including responding to media enquiries, coordinating interviews with team members and assisting with proactive media outreach.
- Working collaboratively with partner organisations to co-deliver messaging, campaigns and reports linked to children’s rights, legal advocacy and policy work.
- Maintaining records of media coverage, communications analytics and stakeholder engagement to support reporting and evaluation.
- Ensuring all communications align with safeguarding, consent, GDPR and data protection requirements.
Fundraising and Marketing
- Supporting the planning and delivery of digital fundraising campaigns in collaboration with the Director of Development.
- Helping to grow supporter engagement and income generation through targeted digital communications and storytelling.
- Supporting the development and consistent use of Just for Kids Law’s brand identity across all materials and platforms.
- Monitoring website and social media analytics to identify opportunities to improve engagement and reach.
- Overseeing the production of multimedia and promotional content in collaboration with external suppliers and partners where required.
Project Communications and Events
- Supporting the co-creation of communications materials and digital content alongside young people and project partners.
- Producing project-specific communications materials, including campaign assets and marketing literature.
- Assisting with the organisation and promotion of events that support fundraising, awareness raising and stakeholder engagement activities.
- Identifying opportunities to promote Just for Kids Law’s work through external events, partnerships and media opportunities.
Monitoring and Evaluation
- Supporting the collection and analysis of communications and engagement data to evaluate the impact of campaigns and communications activity.
- Monitoring digital performance across websites, newsletters and social media platforms and producing reports to inform strategy and development.
- Supporting the development and refinement of communications systems and processes.
General Responsibilities

Skills and Abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present information in a clear, engaging and impactful way.
- Strong understanding of social media platforms, digital communications and audience engagement.
- Ability to create compelling content for a range of audiences across multiple platforms.
- A high level of computer literacy with a good standard of writing as well as proficiency in Microsoft applications (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.).
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work collaboratively across teams and build effective relationships with colleagues, young people, media contacts and partner organisations.
- Ability to deal with sensitive and confidential information discreetly and professionally.
- Creative, proactive and highly motivated approach to work.
- Knowledge of social justice, children’s rights and issues affecting young people is desirable.
