It is helpful to attend the reconsideration if possible, to make sure that the governors undertake a fair process and take into account the findings of the IRP in a conscientious manner.
The governors do not have to invite the family to the reconsideration, so you will need their permission to attend.
You should request their permission as soon as possible so that the governors’ reconsideration cannot happen before you get the chance to ask. You can do this in two steps:
- Provide information to the family on what happens after the IRP if a reconsideration is directed. Consider using the Suggested Wording: Informing the Family that the IRP has Required the School to Reconsider.
- If the family want to attend, or want you to attend for them, write to the clerk to the governors A person with responsibility for arranging the governors’ hearing. They may also distribute evidence, type minutes and be your point of contact for the governors’ hearing. Independent of the school's staff. to request arrangements for the panel and permission to attend. Once you have written to the governors to request permission to attend the reconsideration, or the family had decided not to attend, click next to proceed to the next step.
