Giana joined CRAE in February 2018 as Senior Policy and Public Affairs Advisor with a wealth of child rights expertise. She leads CRAE’s work on strengthening the capacity of the voluntary sector to use children’s rights frameworks in policy and advocacy work. She also manages the production of CRAE’s annual State of Children’s Rights in England report and works on the follow up to the UN’s recommendations on UK implementation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
Prior to joining CRAE Giana worked at Save the Children, where she led policy and advocacy work to promote universal access to maternal, newborn and child healthcare in low income countries. She has also worked for Plan International as Policy Manager, on a range of policy areas including child marriage and gender based violence in schools, and was Development and Human Rights Coordinator at Amnesty International for four years, where her work focused on advancing economic social and cultural rights, especially the right to health and the right to adequate housing. She has also worked for The National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO) and the BOND Network (British Overseas NGOs for Development). She has an MSc in Development Studies from LSE and an LLM/MA in Human Rights from Birkbeck, University of London.
