Public Lawyer and Policy Officer

Alex studied at the University of Kent, obtaining an undergraduate degree in law and a masters degree in public international law. Alex joined Just for Kids Law from Irwin Mitchell where he worked in patients’ rights. He then trained as a solicitor at Just for Kids Law, qualifying in March 2019. During his training Alex worked in the Education and Community Care, Crime and Strategic Litigation teams. He undertook advocacy in exclusion proceedings and complaints against local authorities, as well as working closely on landmark cases in the appeal courts. He created comprehensive guidance to professionals on the criminal records regime and established the School Exclusions Hub to improve access to justice for children and young people facing exclusion from school. Alex now works as a Public Lawyer and Policy Officer, working to effect systemic change in school exclusions and the youth justice system.
